The November
CCAA Meeting will be at 6 PM TUESDAY November 9th at Mario’s in Beaufort Square Shopping Center.
Please Come!
For the Fish Fry on October 23,
we need people to help with set up, serving and clean up. Pat and Dawn Kirk
are handling the food prep. This is an annual tradition to thank the
traffic controllers at Cherry Point for their efforts on behalf of the GA
community.
CCAA members please e-mail Dawn
(dkirk1@ec.rr.com) if you plan to attend or can help with set-up, serving or clean up
they plan to attend so we can get a better count.
Notes from the AUGUST Meeting (Dawn Kirk, Reporting)
12-14 CCAA members
assembled at Mario’s on August 10. Due to the fact that we had so few members present and none of the
leadership, we tabled the discussion as to the future direction of the club
as either a non-profit or a social club.
We had 2 new members present,
Dennis Neill and his (teenage) son Eric. Dennis works in aviation and has the
opportunity to get an ejection seat from a military aircraft if anyone is
interested in putting it on display at either the FBO or the Airport
office. I think the consensus was for him to talk to Ryan to see if they
would be interested in it at the FBO.
We also decided that we will
have a Pig Pickin’ at the airport on a Saturday in October (no date set)
and invite the controllers from Cherry Point in appreciation for their
services to local pilots. Pete Beswick and Pat (Kirk) have volunteered to
cook the pig and Pete should be able to get a cooker. We will order the
sides from Roland’s.
It was announced that Steve
Medlin will be leaving and this weekend is his last day at Segrave. Those
present felt he had really gone out of his way for the club (flying for AAD
the last 2 years) and for a lot of the members, etc. So those present voted
to present him with a farewell/thank you gift. A check was written for $300
and Pete Beswick will get a card and present it to him hopefully this
Friday evening when he gets back from Maryland with Tipper. I think some of
the folks are going to try to be out there around 8:30 p.m or so for an
informal farewell.
A suggestion/comment was made
that we need to do a better job of promoting/reminding folks about the
meetings. Either with some phone calls or maybe an extra email on the
Sunday before the meeting so that it will be in people’s minds closer to
the actual date and maybe they will show up.
Notes from the September Meeting (Dawn Kirk,
Reporting)
We had the CCAA meeting tonight
at Mario’s – with record low attendance (7 people) As a follow up to last
month’s poorly attended meeting, we decided on the following:
CCAA Annual Fish fry will be
Saturday Oct. 25 12 – 2pm with invitations to Cherry Pt. ATC personnel
& families and to the Radio Control Flying Club. I am working up the
flyer and invitation letter to send to Cherry Point and Beth Beswick will
contact the RC club.
